London-based contemporary expressionist artist capturing emotional truth through bold brushwork and punching colour.
THE ARTIST BEHIND THE CANVAS
Pauline Cushnie is a London-based contemporary expressionist artist and a Fine Art BA (Hons) graduate. Her practice centres on capturing the essence and presence of her subjects, prioritising emotional truth over literal likeness.
Working across oils, acrylics, and watercolours, Pauline’s work is characterised by bold brushwork and vibrant colour, conveying energy, depth, and psychological intensity. While her primary focus is on emotive portraits and still life, her artistic exploration extends to printmaking, sculpture, and life drawing.
Beyond her studio at Archway Studios, Pauline is a prominent figure in the London art community. She serves as the Vice President of the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society (the UK’s largest life drawing society) and is an exhibiting member of the Islington Art Society. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions across London, including Valentines Mansion, Art Catcher, and Mall Galleries.
